Inpatient Vs Outpatient Rehab Success Rates
If you are considering rehab for drug or alcohol addiction, you’ll want to choose the best one for you. Before you can decide, it’s important to understand the difference between inpatient vs outpatient rehab.
These two programs can be extremely beneficial for those battling substance abuse, but their differences should be taken into consideration when making your decision.
Because of their differences, it’s natural for inpatient and outpatient rehabs to also have different success rates. This is something to keep in mind when choosing the best program for you.
Addiction, generally, has an average relapse rate between 40%-60%. Success rates vary greatly and can be different for everyone. However, choosing the right treatment program can significantly improve those numbers.
INPATIENT REHAB SUCCESS RATES
Inpatient rehabs are when you reside at a recovery center throughout the duration of your treatment. This is a popular choice if you are battling substance use disorder and are in need of detoxification before you can start your recovery program.
Stays can last anywhere from 28 to 90 days, depending on the level of care you need. In addition to detoxification, you will start your recovery program, typically including scheduled activities and therapies – both individual and group.
Approximately 50% of people who leave an inpatient drug rehab program remain clear after leaving their recovery center. Unfortunately, the other 50% of people relapse within the first three months after completing their inpatient program. This can be attributed to the short-term nature of inpatient rehab. outpatient-success-rate
OUTPATIENT REHAB SUCCESS RATES
Outpatient rehab programs allow you to treat your substance use disorder without interrupting your life. You will be able to live at home, go to work or school, and take care of your everyday responsibilities while incorporating treatment.
With an intensive outpatient program, success rates tend to trend on the higher side with an average of 70% of people having more favorable outcomes compared to those that chose inpatient programs.
At Victory Bay Recovery Center, we offer two intensive outpatient programs (IOPs): IOP-5 and IOP-3.
While both are flexible programs, the difference is the length of time spent at our treatment facility.
IOP-5
In IOP-5, it is a five-day program, typically for 2-3 weeks, consisting of individual therapy, and educational group therapy sessions to help you through your recovery, but while you’re still living either at home or in a sober living home.
IOP-3
OP-3 offers three days of group therapy and one individual therapy session. In this program, you will receive a minimum of 9 hours of support, typically for 12 weeks. To ensure a successful recovery, we recommend first completing the IOP-5 program before stepping down to IOP-3.
Inpatient vs Outpatient Rehab: Which is Best for You?”
If you are battling drug addiction and considering rehab, then you probably want to know the difference between inpatient vs outpatient rehab. Getting the right program is essential for long-term success in healing.
When you have substance use disorder, it’s important to know what program will be best for you. Our rehab alumni program is just one way you could get the help you need.
Recovery from any type of addiction takes time, so it’s best to enter the program that will give you the best results. There are certain things to consider when deciding whether to go with an inpatient or outpatient program.
Where is it located?
If you are considering outpatient treatment as an option, you’ll want to find a place that is located close by since you’ll need to drive to the place daily.
Outpatient treatments vary; you have regular outpatient and intensive outpatient programs. With either one, you’ll likely be attending individual therapy and programs on a regular basis.
Intensive outpatient programs allow participants to continue with some of their regular daily responsibilities while giving them a full amount of therapy services. In addition, intensive outpatient therapy prepares you for dealing with real-world scenarios with sessions about job preparedness and self-care.
If the place you are planning on attending is far away, then an inpatient may work best since you wouldn’t have to commute back and forth. The only downside with inpatient is you won’t be able to continue with your life outside the rehab.
“How severe is the drug addiction problem?
People who are at severe risk for relapse may require inpatient or residential services to succeed.
However, most people can be successful with the amount of care they’ll receive from an intensive outpatient program or even a regular outpatient program. Some programs even incorporate almost a full day of therapy and program services for the patient.
Alumni Programs
A rehab alumni program is a vital component of rehab. This service is almost always provided in the group therapy sessions, which are a part of outpatient programs.
During alumni programs, people who have been through rehab successfully can provide help to those starting out. They offer guidance and compassion because they’ve been there before.[
